St Stephen Catholic School is Hiring a Principal Near Boston, MI

Job Title: Principal

Reports To: Pastor and Archdiocese Job Description:

The principal is the primary religious and educational leader of the school. As spiritual leader of the school, the principal is expected to nurture the faith development of the faculty and staff by providing opportunities for spiritual growth. As educational leader the principal provides ample opportunity for continuing education for all staff members. The principal reports directly to the Pastor and is responsible for the implementation of the mission statement of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

 Provide visionary leadership and direction to the school, with a focus on academic excellence and Catholic identity.

 Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including budget development, facility management, and staff supervision.

 Implement policies and procedures that ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

 Recruit, hire, train and evaluates certified & support staff, and provide ongoing professional development opportunities. Oversee the implementation of instructional goals and objectives for each teacher by providing professional development annually as well as staff evaluations.

 Collaborate with the school's advisory board and parent-teacher association to engage the community and build support for the school.

 Develop and maintain positive relationships with other schools, community organizations, and the Archdiocese.

 Supervise all school sponsored groups and provide fiscal oversight.

 Act as the primary representative of the school, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members.

 Coordinate & lead staff meetings and trainings as required.

 Supervises certified and support staff.

 Promote an environment of collaboration with the instructional staff.

 Promotes and ensures effective communication between school families and teachers with regular communication to all stake holders about school events and initiatives. Ensures there is effective written/digital communication with students’ families in a timely manner.

 Ensures that standards of learning are developed and maintained. Ensure that teachers are following teaching objectives in all subjects.

 Makes certain that students testing and evaluation are shared regularly with parents/guardians in collaboration with teachers.

 During each school year establish meeting(s)/conference(s) between teachers and parents.

 Oversee and develop an overall financial plan for the school with a balanced budget in collaboration with the Parish Financial Director.

 Review and implement annually the student discipline/code of conduct. At the beginning of the school year provide a handbook of student conduct to be signed by parents.

 Prepare and submit all necessary reports to state education offices, as well as the Archdiocese of Detroit with respect to meeting all deadlines.

 Implement all Archdiocese of Detroit and state safety and health regulations.

 Ensure all Archdiocese of Detroit and state requirements are being met.

 Follow the Catholic teachings and adhere to the values and guidelines of the school.

 Promote a curriculum that ensures the development and implementation of a comprehensive Christian-based program that complies with the Archdiocese of Detroit standards.

 Work collaboratively with school staff such as cafeteria and maintenance to ensure a safe and positive environment.

 Maintain school accreditation.

 Maintain staff files.

 Required monthly attendance at parish council meetings to give school report.

Qualifications:

 Master's degree in education or a related field.

 Experience as a school administrator or principal is preferred.

 Strong leadership and management skills.

 Strong communication, interpersonal & conflict management skills.

 Strong understanding of Catholic education and the ability to integrate Catholic values and teachings in school operations.

 Ability to work well with students and staff.

 Must be able to follow Catholic teaching and adhere to the values and guidelines of the school.

 Completion of background checks, fingerprinting, catechist certification and Virtus training.
